June 12, 2017
Studio TK today announced the launch of its Kuskoa Bi Chair, Kuskoa Chair and Bar Stools, and Lasai
Lounge Seating collections at showroom #1044 during NeoCon 2017, June 12 to 14, The Mart, Chicago.
“The launch of the Kuskoa Bi Chair, Kuskoa Chair and Bar Stools, and Lasai Lounge Seating at NeoCon
2017 celebrates a new partnership between Studio TK and Alki,” said Charlie Bell, President, Studio TK.
“Formed in 1981 in a small village in the northern Basque Country, in Itsasu, Alki combines ancestral
tradition and modern technology. Alki furniture brings conviviality in a very contemporary style to the
Studio TK portfolio.”
Kuskoa Bi Chair
Kuskoa Bi is a statement piece that you can sit on. This unique bioplastic design is derived from plant-
based renewable resources. The rugged, enveloping shell can be finished two ways – upholstered in
total, or embellished with just an upholstered seat pad. The shell is cut out in such a way as to optimize
back and arm support for long stretches of work. Two desk versions offer supreme mobility and are
available with a 4-star swivel and 5-star caster in two powder-coat finishes. Rigid bioplastic design and
powder-coated base allow use in high-traffic spaces while maintaining a high-quality finish. The guest
chair sits firmly on a solid oak trestle available in five finishes. Oak has a longevity superior to most other
materials, and is therefore one of the first choices for furniture makers. Kuskoa Bi is perfect for
collaboration and conference room scenarios.
Designed by Jean Louis Iratzoki and Ander Lizaso, Kuskoa Bi is the first chair on the market
manufactured in bioplastic. The unique bioplastic shell is based on PLA (PolyLactic Acid), a biopolymer
obtained from transforming starch. The shell is made from plant-based renewable resources, including
corn starch, sugarcane and natural fibers. It is a fully recyclable material that has a significant
environmental advantage as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Kuskoa Bi brings a sensibility to café
and collaborative spaces while promoting a sustainable environment.
In addition to seat-ipad upholstery and full upholstery, the chair is available without upholstery.
Unupholstered models are ideal for performance spaces and where ease of cleaning is important. Fully
upholstered models are perfect for softer, hospitality-focused spaces. Kuskoa Bi fills a need for a variety
of spaces and functions as a light multi-purpose chair.
Kuskoa Chair and Bar Stools
Kuskoa rethinks the role of form and materiality in the new workplace. From large cafés to small
collaboration zones, the chair, counter-height stools and bar-height stools offer versatile elegance paired
with a range of table types. The stools provide a mid-back support for longer gatherings and a metal
footrest to encourage good posture. A range of material options and finishes provides a variety of ways
to express your space. The veneer shell nestles within a solid oak base, which can be finished five ways.
Material accents complement the warmth of the wood with optional inner and outer seat upholstery.
Kuskoa adds an emotional touch point to any work environment. In spaces filled with man-made
materials, Kuskoa’s oak construction brings the warmth of organic materiality to settings where people
congregate and socialize. The warmth of the wood back and trestle oak base expresses elegance
through true craftsmanship.
Lasai Lounge Seating
Lasai lounge’s visual and tactile cues infuse a sense of balance in today’s ephemeral work environment.
The solid oak frame can be finished five ways to add warmth, while the cushions and outer shell allow for
different upholstery finishes that can accentuate a space with a quick blast of color or subdue it with a
muted palette. The low-profile, Hans Wegner-inspired recline is ideal for getting comfortable and
catching up with colleagues. Single- and double-seat configurations are constructed with high-density
foam and a wraparound oak structure to bring a welcoming, lifestyle feel into the workspace.
Kuskoa Chair and Bar Stools, and Lasai seating are designed by Jean Louis Iratzoki.
In addition to the Kuskoa Bi Chair, Kuskoa Chair and Bar Stools, and Lasai Lounge Seating, Studio TK is
also showing its new the Dual Lounge collection designed by Toan Nguyen, and Bevy Tables designed
by Mario Ruiz during NeoCon at showroom #1044.
